What is Copic?
Made in Japan.
The story began in Tokyo in 1987 with the launch of the Copic Classic marker; with professional quality, a refillable design, and Too Corporation's mission, it has grown into a brand that now reaches the whole world.
A story that began
in Tokyo in 1987.
Copic's story began in 1987 in Tokyo, Japan, with the launch of the Copic Classic marker. At the time, traditional drawing and coloring tools would often smear or dissolve on freshly printed photocopies. Copic was developed to solve this problem, offering a professional-quality marker that could be used directly on photocopies without compromising precision or clarity. The marker was named "Copic", inspired by the word "copies".
Copic Classic quickly transformed the creative industry and became a recognized brand among designers, illustrators, and artists worldwide.
Over time, Copic markers stood out for their vivid, blendable colors, professional performance, and long life. From the very beginning, every marker was designed to be refillable and long-lasting — reflecting the company's commitment to reducing waste and respecting the environment.
The brand kept evolving, expanding into new creative tools including Copic Multiliners, the versatile Copic acrea paint markers, high-quality papers, and the innovative Copic Airbrush System. Today, all alcohol-based Copic markers are still made in Japan and pass strict quality controls, preserving the superior performance that generations of creatives rely on.
Copic's mission is to inspire creativity and nurture the passion for drawing.
